Best Way to Wash Windows

The best way to wash windows is by using a squeegee. Use your hands, a sponge or a cloth to apply the cleaning solution to the window. Take your squeegee and place it across the blade of the tool and press down on one side of window, pulling the rubber edge toward you while at the same time keeping your other hand on top of the squeegee. This will help prevent streaks. Work your way from top to bottom, overlapping each stroke as you go. Be sure to rinse your squeegee after each stroke. When you’re finished, use a clean cloth to wipe any residual cleaning solution off the window frame and sill.

If you don’t have a squeegee, you can use a sponge or cloth instead. Start by wetting the window with your cleaning solution. Then, using a circular motion, rub the window with your sponge or cloth until it’s clean. Rinse the cloth frequently in clean water to prevent streaking. When you’re finished, wipe down the frame and sill with a clean cloth.

You can also clean your windows with a power washer. Be sure to use the lowest setting and hold the nozzle at least two feet from the window. Move the nozzle in a side-to-side motion as you work your way down the window. Be careful not to spray too much water on the frame or sill, as this can damage them. When you’re finished, use a clean cloth to wipe down the frame and sill.

Be sure to clean your windows on a cloudy day or in the shade. Direct sunlight can cause the cleaning solution to dry too quickly and leave streaks. No matter which method you choose, always be sure to rinse the windows and frame thoroughly when you’re finished. This will help prevent the build-up of streaks and dirt.
